Brake fluid
When braking very high temperatures occurs in the brake fluid. In extreme cases the brake fluid starts to stew and steam bubbles are created in the brake system. These steam bubbles get compressed, the brake pedal goes into the floor and the car cant be stopped.
Always check your brake fluid regularly with a brake fluid tester, or change fluid once a year to be on the safe side.
Remember that a brake fluid which has included condensation (water) boils at much lower temperatures than a new one. It matters less whether you run a hundred or a thousand miles per year, it is time that affect the fluid. |
